Good morning Monday

Well I decided to write again today. Not much happened this weekend but I thought I would check in anyway. I'm trying to create a habit. Mom and Dad made it home safely from their vacation. We stayed home all weekend swimming and cleaning a little. We're still praying we can go to Florida. We'll know after this week (figures are crossed). The girls had softball practice. The boys played all weekend. Mallory was MIA some of the weekend. We're just praying for her constantly. This Mom gig I have going is the hardest thing I've ever done ever. And I'm sure I'll look back on these years and remember only the good but today I feel like I am down in a ditch and someone keeps throwing dirt on me and I keep trying to dig deeper. It's never ending. It's exhausting. It's frustrating. And it's wonderful. It's rewarding. It's so incredibly fun. I know it's my calling to be a mom. Thank you Jesus for this opportunity that I have and thank you Jesus that I don't have to do it alone. Thank you for your word so awesome and true to stand on, stand in, and be consumed with because there is no other way we could be comforted. Thank you for this outlet to express myself and to document so I can see your fingertips on our lives.

Finally a new post

Carson helping put down the floor.
Dad and Cliff putting in the floor.

Well I am finally able to write again. My computer crashed and many life events have happened since a year and a half ago. But I will try to pace myself better than just once every year or so...today is a lazy summer Friday. You know where I am still in my pjs at 9:30 in the morn. and the 12 yr olds are still snoozing. I'll try to recap just a few major events that have happened recently and post a few pics if I remember how to do it. We have a kitten named Fluff that we acquired from my brother. She is sweet but not meant for a house cat as I found out...yuck! We also got a miniature daschund puppy who also doesn't do real well in the house. He stays outside mostly and comes in to use the bathroom. What? I don't know what we're doing wrong so I leave him out mostly. His name is Rex. His previous owners named him that. Maddie loves him so of course that is why he is staying. Sammie is still around but had to be kicked out recently too because she ruined my living room rug. Did I mention I don't like animals very much? Anyway, Mallory is gone today to finish her first week of being a nanny to some kids in Tyler. She got her first big pay check. Hopefully she'll make it last a few days. She made drum major again this year. Maddie & Miranda have been playing softball. We're still playing softball...been playing since April. I think they're tired of it. But once they get out there they do really well. Carson and Conner are doing well. They loved bible school this summer. They both swim like crazy. They are both very tanned. Conner has a loose tooth. It's the bottom left. He will definitely lose it before school. Cliff is doing great at his job. He is trying to get a big deal as I am writing this. Hopefully it will go through so we can go to Florida! Mom and dad are good. They are in Branson this week with Terry and MiMi. Dad had a heart attack the last week of school but he's better now. It was a very scary time but thankfully he was paying attention to his body. Joey and his kids are good. Wendy and her family is good. Here are a few pictures to document the happenings: I forgot to mention we added on the house. The pictures above are of Maddie and Miranda's new room. We did that ALL last summer. Until we meet again...

Figuring out the blog & other things

Well, here I go - another day another dollar. No not for me anyway. It is Friday and many people are out making a dollar. I am home another day freezing - 19 degrees outside. We built a fire even though I am not really a pioneer woman at all. Carson prayed to Jesus that our fire would start quickly and He answered our prayers. I am not very talented in the firestarter area. Anyway we are home again because of the boys' colds. I'm hoping that no one else gets them. My husband is out of town coming home today - Yay! I have just been reading blogs, doing laundry, cooking, and doing a smidget of cleaning. I have no idea what the weekend will hold because of these temperatures. I am guessing we'll do lots of card playing. We haven't played a game in 4 whole nights. We're due. I am going to attempt to add pictures to this thing but while I am not a pioneer woman, I am also not a modern computer woman either. I'm not quite sure where I fit in with all the labels. I'm still working on that.
I did it!!! I'm so excited. I finally figured out pictures. I'm not quite sure what I was doing before because this was not that hard. It could have been my other computer. Yes, I will blame it on that. Well, I'm looking forward to recording our day to days with you in the internet world. Even though I know it is really just for my own selfish desires because I am scared I will have alzheimer's one day and this will be the only way my kids will know what happened in their early years. Until tomorrow or the day after...

new year - new post

Wow!!! It's a new year already. Where did 2009 go? Hopefully I will be able to post more this year than last. I think I only did 2. I absolutely love reading blogs but I have not got into a habit of writing them yet. I'll tell you what it was though, I couldn't load photos so I got frustrated and have not returned until now. I know that is silly but that is the way I am sometimes. Today is a special day. The Texas Longhorns play for the national title in college football against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Hook ' em Horns!!! The boys are all dressed in t-shirts and the Colt McCoy jersey. We're ready! We're eating chili at my mom's and watching some of the game there. So exciting! My uncle is still in the hospital and we're praying for a quick recovery for him and my sweet aunt. I hope he stops running fever. Mallory received her letter jacket this week. So surreal. Cliff said that reality has sunk in when he saw it. Maddie & Miranda will be honored next week at the school board meeting for their uil accomplishments. Carson & Conner are fighting off the croup virus. It's been hard getting back into a routine but we're managing like we always do - crazy! Until next time...maybe I will post pics.

We were able to celebrate with my sweet younger brother, Joey, on his birthday.(July 20) It was an impromptu visit. But aren't those the most fun. We had burgers, hot dogs, dip, birthday cake, and fun while we went exploring behind their house in a place where people get dirt. The kids called it the mountains and the grand canyon. They don't get out much. Even my mom, dad, and poor overdressed husband made the trek. Husband had to use the water hose when he got home to wash all the red dirt off his dress shoes. It was quite the fun until I had to carry my youngest dressed as spider man all the way back home through briars I might add. He complained of being hot. I don't know why, it is perfectly normal to put on a long sleeved, long pant outfit on top of your shorts and tee to go hiking in Texas...when your 3. Anyway it was a visit I'm glad we had. I even posted pics.

Spilled Tea, and unwanted Happy Meals

Well, here goes day 2...Today I had to go to the orthodontist for a financial meeting for Mallory's up and coming braces. It didn't go very well because I had misunderstood the financing options or I was told something besides what really happened...anyway we have got to get that started because Mal has some serious jaw issues. If the braces do not work she might have to have jaw surgery some day...so I am praying they will work. She will have to wear rubber bands all of the time to try and push her bottom teeth to make them straight up and down instead of the reclining position they are currently standing in...Dee Dee took the 2 sets of twins to Henderson's Wal-Mart...joy joy times 2. They all selected their fav toys of the hour and were very well behaved so she said. I dropped them off and picked them up from there. Then we went to McDonald's and had lunch. I have never had a whatacatch with as much tartar sauce as I had today. Usually I think the s-wich could have a little more but today it was dripping out all over the place...yummy...like me some tartar sauce. The girls ate and played very nice...the boys ate when we got home...of course not Mcdonald's leftovers (yuck)...crackers, bean dip (Carson's fav at 3 years old), cheezits, orange juice, hamburger bun, and sour cream and onion chips. Appetizing isn't it? I don't know why I bother...yes I do...for the toys!!!
It was a really nice summer outing until...I went to get a sip of my just refilled iced sweet tea...in my lap the refreshed new ice and tea went...coldness!!! I had to pull over to get rid of all the ice. I drove the rest of the way home sticky and wet...yuck...that's what I get for thinking I look cute in my little outfit. Then when I do finally get home...there are a couple of guys in the back yard digging so we can pour concrete for Mad & Mir's new room...had to explain what happened...like they cared but it did look like something else had happened in my cute little shorts.
Like I said yesterday...this is mostly for my enjoyment...who would want to forget spilling tea all over themselves and more importantly...who else would want to read about it?

Popcorn popping, fort building, and rain

Well, hello everyone. This is my very first time to try this blogging thing. I love to read blogs but never thought I had time to do it. But the more blogs I read I realized I wanted and needed to release my thoughts and document some memories for my family. I cannot promise to put anything down worth anyone's reading but I am mostly doing this out of selfishness for my children.

Today began unlike other days we have had this summer. It was dark, thundering, and raining outside. Here in east Texas, where we have not seen much precip this summer, it was a nice change. So after coffee, of course, and a shower, I built both sets of twins an indoor fort complete with an old comforter comfy bottom to lounge in. The boys were extremely excited. The girls not so much except for getting to eat popcorn in it when otherwise banned from the living room. They have a had a great time...now they have decided to watch a movie from their comfy abode.

So to say all of that...that's how I am able to begin I hope a fun journey into the blog world. Hopefully next time I post, I will have a funny story or some important info I think the world needs to know.
